The children who call IHS home, however temporary, are children who have often survived disruptive, traumatic pasts as a result of their family's homelessness. Because of the family's instability, many of these children have not had the benefits of regular school attendance, as their family have been more concerned with essentials, like where the next meal is coming from. IHS has a Family Room, a safe place for our children to come and participate in age-appropriate, educational and recreational activities. As the children range in age from newborns to age 18, the programing is flexible. We need reliable, patient, creative, responsible, fun mentors to offer after-school programs including homework assistance, arts and crafts and reading hour.
