The Junior Optimist Club is a community service club for Junior High School students. Most of the students are attending Kaimuki Middle School. It is directly supported by the Optimist Club of Honolulu. We do joint projects with the Optimist Club of Honolulu. Projects in the past include HUGS Thanksgiving Dinner, Mighty Mo, Lunalilo Home Christmas visitation, Kapiolani Hospital Children's Ward, Big Brothers/Big Sisters Bowl-a-thon & Fishing Derby, McGruff Program & Kupuna ID Program, Waialae Elementary School Fun Fair, Ronald McDonald House, Junior Optimist Car Wash, Leadership Seminar, Okinawan Festival Children's Games, Hawaiian Taro Patch and Hawaiian Fishpond Improvement projects, Hawaii Nature Center, Ronald McDonald House cleanup.
The requirements are that the youth be willing to volunteer on weekends, be active in the club and is in grade 5-8. There is an $10.00 annual registration fee that registers members with Optimist International.
