From October 2-5, 2010, Bishop Museum will be the proud host of the 2010 Association of Science & Technology Centers (ASTC) Annual Conference. The conference brings over 250 science centers from throughout the world together to discuss relevant challenges, share unique concepts, experience ground-breaking techniques and technology, network with colleagues and much more. It will include over 100 sessions, fascinating speakers and special pre- and post-conference tour opportunities.
We need 300 "Aloha Ambassadors" from October 1 - 5, 2010, to assist Bishop Museum staff and ASTC conference attendees at the Hawaii Convention Center.
Various Responsibilities include:
Airport Greeter
Assisting with shuttles at front of the convention center
Registration
Way Finder Volunteers stationed around the Convention Center and serve as floor attendants too.
First Aid volunteer helper
Concierge
Aloha Tower - Pub Crawl Event
Benefits:
- Gain valuable experience volunteering with Free T-shirt, opportunity to sit in on conference sessions (see hours requirement below) as long as they are not scheduled to volunteer at that time.
Volunteers receive:
4-6 hours = 1 Free Session snack, water, shirt
6-8 hours = 1 Day Free Sessions (Total of 3+ sessions) lunch, water, shirt
8-16 hours or 2 Days = 2 Days Free Sessions (Total of 6+ sessions) lunch, water, shirt
16-24 hours = Bishop Museum MAHALO Package plus 3 Days of Free Sessions lunch, water, shirt
- Learn skills in Team work and communication, networking and various information regarding technology
- Free Parking - Shuttle to Conference Center from Bishop Museum
Must have good communication skills; good at taking directions and enjoy working with people.
Training will be arranged prior to the conference.
