The Arboretum's seed bank supports plant conservation organizations throughout the state by storing seeds of Hawaiian plants for future outplanting. Assistants extract, clean, catalog, and count seeds,prepare them for storage, and test stored seeds to check their condition. Work is in an indoor laboratory. Hours are flexible.
No special experience is necessary, but volunteers should be comfortable working with very small objects. Good eye-hand coordination is helpful.  This opportunity is sponsored by: Lyon Arboretum

Take the University Ave. exit on H1. Drive mauka (towards the mountains), pass the University and continue up the valley. At the Intersection of Oahu Ave.,and University Ave, take Oahu Ave. (middle fork) and continue up the valley. At the 5 way intersection (Lowry Ave, Oahu Ave. Manoa Rd.) take Manoa Road. Continue driving mauka past Paradise Park. The Arboretum driveway is at the Manoa Falls trailhead. Parking for Arboretum visitors is at the top of the driveway.
