Description:

History:
Volunteering is a long-time tradition at Kuakini. When the Chinatown fire of 1900 left more than 3000 Japanese immigrants homeless, a volunteer organization called the Japanese Benevolent Society provided them with medical care, food and clothing. This disaster prompted the Society to establish the Japanese Charity Hospital, the forerunner of Kuakini Medical Center. Since then, Kuakini has evolved into a modern health care facility serving the entire community with a highly trained medical staff and the latest in medical technology. Caring is a tradition at Kuakini. Volunteers are a cherished human resource at Kuakini because they carry on that tradition. Give a little of yourself to someone in need. Become a Kuakini volunteer!
