Damien Memorial School
We the community of Damien Memorial School, missioned by the Universal Church, espouse the Gospel message with a special consideration for the poor. Through our lives and our ministry of education, we provide an atmosphere of tolerance, respect, and love for all within our island's distinct cultural and religious backgrounds. We endeavor, through the development of our personal relationship with Jesus Christ and our professional development, to create an environment espousing spiritual and academic truth.
Description:
Damien Memorial School is a Catholic, all boys school from grades 7-12. Our focus is to attract all academically qualified students who may require financial assistance to receive the level of academic curriculum that will position them to prepare for advanced education or fulfilling careers. We strive to provide an atmosphere of discipline and character development.
History:
The school is sponsored by the Christian Brothers of Ireland and opened its doors for students in 1962. The Christian Brothers were invited to start a school in Hawaii by Bishop Scanlan who was educated in Ireland by the Christian Brothers. The school is named after the soon to be canonizaed Blessed Father Damien deVeuster, the Apostle of Molokai.
