The vision of Youth Service Hawaii is to engage every youth in Hawai`i as active, compassionate citizen through service and education.
Description:
We promote this vision through programs that support teachers and students, such as the annual Hawaii Service Learning Conference each spring, Service Learning Workshops offered throughout the year, and other professional development for educators. We also provide information through a Website (www.youthservicehawaii.org) with a listing of service learning opportunities, information on best practices in service learning and resources to help teachers incorporate service learning into their curriculum.
History:
Youth Service Hawaii began in 1996 with the idea of preparing students for their role as citizens of Hawai'i and the world. Today, Youth Service Hawaii, is a 501(c)(3) corporation, serves educators across the state with service-learning resources. Youth Service Hawaii actively works to build awareness of the potential of service-learning as a catalyst for youth, giving information to students, educators and community members.
