We are a community of volunteers supporting the arts and charity of Hawaii. Using organizational management, project planning, and networking, we hope to bring forth noticeable events to the public by bridging artisans with their communities for charitable benefits while making lifelong friends with the people of our island.
Description:
We are… A group of parents, teachers, artists, professionals, and just people who love dynamic forms of artistic expression working together to promote charity by strengthening the arts in Hawaii. We call ourselves Honu Bay Designs since we have decided to present the Honu(Sea Turtles) as a way of expressing the needs of people on our Islands. We believe… The arts are essential to an excellent education, and wish to enrich students' experiences in music, art, drama, dance and creative writing. Along this same path we will reach out to communities and develop projects bridging charity groups and community together into a fun filled artistic experience. Our goal is… To be an advocate for stronger arts education, support community programs already in place, and enhance partnerships between community artists and these organizations. We also help… Promote and organize events to present dynamic forms of art and music as a benefit to support local non-profits pioneering creative ways in meeting the needs of our island communities.
History:
Newly formed this summer 2008, we hope to gather a community board of volunteers to review projects being considered. Quarterly commitment begins this June 08'. Three other volunteers are needed for project leaderships, administration, and resource management/storage. Closing date for each project ends at every quarter or three months.
