∑ HVC’s Mission is to promote the healthy development of children and the community using performance and circus arts.
∑ Our Primary Objective is to offer educational arts services and workshops with emphasis on school age children.

Description:
Hawaii’s Volcano Circus (HVC), incorporated in 1984, is a non-profit organization founded to provide quality culture and arts enrichment programs in Hawaii. We strive to build social capital in the broader community by engaging and connecting youth and adults in cultural and artistic activities. Our mission is “ to promote the healthy development of children and our community using the performance arts.”

Over the past years, the demand for HVC programs and services has caused us to outgrow the temporary buildings used as office and storage facilities. To better fulfill our mission, HVC is consolidating our operations in a new facility opened Nov 3rd 2007. The Seaview Performing Arts Center for Education (S.P.A.C.E.) is a major improvement in our organizational capacity. S.P.A.C.E. permits us to expand our outreach and instructional capabilities to more youth and adults, resulting in greater impact to communities throughout Hawaii.

History:
Through outreach programs and services, HVC helps to improve conditions in the broader community by engaging and connecting youth and adults in cultural and artistic activities. HVC presents approximately 20 performances reaching out to more than 15,000 persons each year and offers educational services and a workshop curriculum to the public with emphasis on school age children, especially those living in isolated rural communities. HVC has also provided free and subsidized performances and programs to other educational, civic, and charitable organizations to support their events and fund raising activities.

HVC consists of a committed and talented company of about thirty teachers and performing artists. Motivated by educational, cultural and entertainment goals and objectives, members include internationally recognized professional performance artists. Members have taught and performed at festivals and conventions across the United States, Europe, Japan, New Zealand and Australia and are among the very best in their artistic field.

We are located near Kehena in Puna Makai.
