The mission of Nani 'O Wai'anae (Beautiful Wai'anae) is to enhance and preserve the beauty of Hawaii's unique envirornment by bringing together people and resources to address litter reduction, solid waste management, and beautification programs.

Description:
Nani 'O Wai'anae (NOW) is a non-profit 501.c3, grassroots volunteer organization. We are committed to creating and sustaining a localized based educational, awareness and hands-on, action oriented program to address the environmental issues unique to our island community of Oahu. Nani 'O Wai'anae has an active member base of 500+, working together on many different kinds of environmental projects: from Marine Debris studies, tire round-ups, clean stream projects, graffitti removal/education, thousands of tree plantings and many litter/ trash cleanups and educational projects.

History:
Nani'O Wai'anae has been a Keep America Beautiful Inc. affiliate since 1993.
NOW is the lead orgranization on Oahu for the Great American/Hawaii Cleanup (May-March) for the past 15 years. 10 years, Adopt-A-Highway participant. Since 1993 we have conducted yearly monitoring of litter changes/Litter indexing.In1994 we were the lead organization in Hawaii's first litter-free sporting event at Aloha Stadium. We currently plan/conduct several projects a month to involve volunteers including continuing education, awareness and prevention of environmental problems/issues..

Satisfying -- it really makes a visible difference!
 The main thrust of all that we do is rubbish and tire removal -- and we do it BIG TIME!! All the time we're out, which is just about every week-end, we are the examples that others learn to follow by being with us, seeing the fantastic results, and passing this along to our neighbors.
